ATLANTA—Hot2Vote, a coalition of more than 100 adult entertainers and creators, today launched a $100,000 advertising campaign across metro Atlanta with a simple message: “The stars always check their status, and so should you.”
The “status” in question is voter registration, a campaign representative explained. Following the cancellation of nearly half a million inactive voter registrations in Georgia last year, the campaign uses pin-up-style posters and targeted digital ads to encourage Atlantans to visit hot2vote.org, “where they can confirm they are still on the rolls and fix any problems in time for the November election.” The ads will run through October 4.
"Over the next few weeks, my team and I will be out hitting the clubs around Atlanta and connecting with our community to make sure everyone checks their voter registration status," said Hazel Grace, an Atlanta-based performer and owner of InMelanin Productions. "It is critical that you confirm you are still on the voter rolls and that your registration has not been purged. If you see us out and about, or see a Hot2Vote.org poster, don't wait. Visit the link, check your status, and make sure your voice is ready to be heard."
The campaign is “designed to reach people who have tuned out traditional political advertising.” It includes:
• Pin-up-style PSA posters displayed in Atlanta's nightclub districts.• Digital display ads geo-fenced to adult nightclubs across the city, so patrons see them on their phones while inside.• Voter-file-matched digital ads and pre-roll ads on adult sites throughout Georgia.• Hot2Vote performers on the ground in Atlanta distributing posters and QR codes linking to hot2vote.org.
The campaign is “projected to reach between 400,000 and 450,000 people, mostly men,” in metro Atlanta.
"The most effective protection any of us have is a ballot," said Casey Calvert, a Hot2Vote artists ambassador and award-winning adult actor/director/producer.
Other Atlanta-based performers taking part include Kimmy Kimm and Holly Hendrix. Comedian Margaret Cho is a celebrity supporter of the campaign.
