DALLAS—Condom Sense, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex's largest independently-owned sexual wellness retailer, is marking 36 years in business. The company opened its doors in 1990, in Dallas, “during a period when open conversation about sexual health was difficult,” and has since grown to 11 stores across the DFW Metroplex, a Condom Sense rep said.
Condom Sense carries more than 60,000 products, spanning condoms and protection, vibrators and personal massagers, couples' products, lubricants, lingerie and sexual health education materials.
“The company positions itself against the ‘novelty shop’ model common in the category, with a store experience built around knowledgeable staff and straightforward product guidance rather than embarrassment or pressure,” the rep said.
The company's educational content series, “Sex Academy,” extends the same approach online, covering topics in sexual health, communication and consent for a general adult audience.
"Understanding where products came from, how they work, and what they're for removes fear and replaces it with confidence," the rep continued, describing the philosophy behind Sex Academy's content.
Condom Sense operates 11 locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, serving Dallas, Addison, Arlington, Frisco, Lewisville, McKinney, North Dallas, Plano and Richardson.
