NEW DELHI, India—IMbesharam, one of India’s pioneers in sexual wellness, is celebrating its 13th anniversary, “marking more than a decade spent pursuing an idea that was considerably more radical when the company began—normalize pleasure and democratize access to sexual wellness in India,” a company rep says.
“When IMbesharam launched 13 years ago, buying a sexual wellness product in India often meant navigating stigma, limited access, little reliable information and an industry that largely operated behind closed doors. Pleasure itself was rarely discussed as a normal part of personal well-being,” the rep explains. “IMbesharam set out to change that—not simply by selling products, but by making sexual wellness more accessible, more understandable and easier to talk about.”
“Sexual wellness has moved increasingly into mainstream e-commerce, quick commerce, podcasts, entertainment, social media and popular culture. IMbesharam has grown alongside that transformation, combining products from leading international and homegrown brands with education, entertainment and culturally relevant content designed to make conversations around intimacy and pleasure feel less intimidating and more every day,” the rep continues.
Over 13 years, IMbesharam has delivered more than one million orders, built a catalog of 2,000-plus products, accumulated more than 15,000 positive customer reviews and built a community of more than 500,000 people across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, WhatsApp, Telegram and Reddit.
“But perhaps some of the most interesting measures of change aren’t the biggest numbers,” the IMbesharam points out. “In IMbesharam’s early years, approximately 70 percent of its customers were men. Over the past five years, the share of women customers has grown significantly—from roughly 31 percent in 2020 to around 52 percent in 2025—reflecting a broader change in who is participating in India’s sexual wellness market.
“That evolution is visible inside the company as well. It took IMbesharam nearly two years to hire its first female employee. Today, women represent approximately 54 percent of the company’s team.”
“Thirteen years ago, we started with a simple belief: pleasure is normal, and access to sexual wellness shouldn’t be determined by shame, stigma or where you live,” said Raj Armani, co-founder of IMbesharam. “Our goal was to normalize pleasure and, in many ways, democratize sex—to give people access to products, information and conversations that allowed them to make their own choices about intimacy.”
“What has been remarkable is watching the consumer change with us,” Armani added. “When we started, almost everything about this category had to be discreet. Today we’re talking about sexual wellness on major podcasts, at mainstream events, on quick-commerce platforms and through entertainment. There is still a long way to go, but the conversation has undeniably moved forward.”
Last year, the company reported 20 percent year-on-year sales growth, alongside increased order volumes and market reach. “IMbesharam crossed ₹1 million (INR) in sales in a single day on multiple occasions, setting new internal records while continuing to strengthen relationships with major international brands including Fleshlight, Lovense, Kiiroo, The Handy and Satisfyer,” the rep also points out.
IMbesharam also continued bringing conversations about sexual wellness into Indian mainstream media and culture. Co-founder Armani appeared on the podcast “iDiva’s with Dr. Cuterus” to discuss the growth of India’s sexual wellness market and the stigma surrounding intimacy and pleasure. He also joined Raj Shamani’s “Figuring Out” to discuss the realities and challenges of building in the category. Armani was also featured in DocuBay’s documentary Bad Toys Inc., exploring the evolution of India’s sexual wellness industry.
During Valentine’s season, IMbesharam also collaborated with Zepto at Prom Night 2026, a live event bringing together creators, brands and trendsetters around modern romance and youth culture, by creating a dedicated Experience Hub, allowing guests to discover and engage with sexual wellness products in a social environment.
The company also expanded its international industry presence, with a larger IMbesharam team attending API Expo in Shanghai.
During the year, the company expanded into short-form storytelling with social media micro-drama series including Chandni Chowk to China and Love, Possibly, the latter created in collaboration with Gaysi Family.
The approach reflects a broader evolution in IMbesharam’s content strategy, “moving beyond simply providing information toward making sexual wellness more relatable, entertaining and culturally relevant for Indian audiences,” the rep describes.
“We’ve learned that normalizing pleasure isn’t always about having a serious conversation about sex,” Armani said. “Sometimes it’s a funny reel, a story about a couple, a podcast conversation or simply seeing a product in a completely normal social environment. When the subject stops feeling unusual, that itself is progress.”
“What makes this anniversary meaningful isn’t just the number of years,” Armani emphasized. “It’s the incredible people behind IMbesharam—our employees, partners, customers and supporters who believed in our vision long before conversations about sexual wellness became mainstream. Every shipment, every customer interaction, every campaign and every milestone has been a collective effort.”
As IMbesharam enters its 14th year, the rep reveals that the company plans to continue investing in education, customer experience, new products, technology and partnerships while finding new ways to bring sexual wellness into everyday Indian culture. “Normalize pleasure. Democratize access. Make sexual wellness easier to understand, easier to access and easier to talk about.”
