LOS ANGELES—Headline Newds is a new social media series in which adult content creators explain complex climate issues through 90-second sketches that satirize “porn clichés.” The shortform content is “made just SFW enough for Instagram,” with additional cuts available on OnlyFans,” a representative explained.
Produced by director Bree Essrig, English star of E4 series Skins Megan Prescott and climate narrative strategist Jessica Riches, in collaboration with Yellow Dot Studios, a non-profit media studio founded by Academy Award-winning director Adam McKay, Season 2 of Headline Newds follows a first season that reached millions, including audiences who would not traditionally engage with climate content.
“With the hottest summer on record in the U.S. [in 2026], devastating glacier floods in Nepal and a U.N. warning that the world will soon breach 1.5° C, the climate crisis is getting harder to ignore, yet Big Oil’s disinformation machine continues to fuel misunderstanding, inaction and confusion over who is responsible,” the rep said. “Amid a lack of political leadership and increasingly familiar climate campaign tactics, Headline Newds is taking a radically different approach: adult content creators confronting stigma head-on and showing that the desire for climate action extends far beyond the usual suspects.”
Season 1 featured creators including Essrig, Prescott, Rebecca Crow and Eva Oh, covering topics including solar energy, climate censorship, extreme heat, flooding and fossil-fuel financing. According to Headline Newds data, 71.4 percent of the series’ Instagram audience was male, “with men aged 35–44 making up the single largest viewing demographic.”
Season 2 returns with 11 episodes featuring U.K. and U.S. adult creators including Lily Phillips, Aaliyah Yasin and Girthmasterr. The first episode, titled “Body Count,” stars Phillips and uses her “headline-making body count to turn the question on its head—how many people have fossil fuels killed through air pollution, extreme heat and climate-driven disasters, and how many more lives are at risk while governments continue to protect the industry?”
Elsewhere in the series, Girthmasterr takes on “Godzilla El Niño,” turning an extreme climate phenomenon into “an unexpectedly funny and accessible lesson in climate science,” the rep added.
Other topics including carbon footprints, microplastics, wet-bulb temperatures, data centers and fossil-fuel power, while showcasing “sexy solutions” that could help tackle the climate crisis.
The series also argues that “sex workers and digital creators may be uniquely placed to have these conversations. They already operate in a heavily censored and stigmatized space and are accustomed to speaking openly about subjects that mainstream society often prefers to avoid,” the rep theorized.
"Everybody and their mother knows what microplastics are at this point, but what they don’t know is how much money big oil spends covering up the fact that they’re killing us. If I have to throw my ass in circles to get that information out there, then I’ll just stay bent over until that's what kills me instead," said Essrig, co-creator of Headline Newds.
“Hotness is awesome and fun when it’s ladies and dudes on OnlyFans. But when the hotness pertains to oil companies cooking the entire planet just to get their stock price higher it, to use a scientific term, sucks,” said McKay, producer of Headline Newds.
“We're always experimenting with fresh ways to talk about climate. And when we're fighting against the disinformation of Big Oil and the destruction they're leaving behind, we're forced to bring out the big buns," said Staci Roberts-Steele, co-producer of Headline Newds.
“Sex workers have been censored and discriminated against for generations, yet they’ve often been at the forefront of important social movements. Big Oil has spent decades censoring the truth about climate change, suppressing, distracting and muddying the conversation. So why wouldn’t sex workers be powerful people to help bring that information into the mainstream?" asked Prescott, co-creator of Headline Newds. "The question shouldn’t be ‘Why is Lily Phillips talking about climate change?’ It should be ‘Why isn’t every politician talking about it?’ If people are more outraged by who is delivering the message than by the fact that fossil-fuel companies have been profiting while damaging the planet, that says a lot about what we still choose to care about as a society.”
“As someone who’s worked in climate comms for the past decade, I’m tired of impact reports and progressive infighting. The best time to act was when we learned Big Oil was covering up its impact. The second best time is now," said Riches, co-creator of Headline Newds. "Headline Newds is my rallying cry to the industry: fight fire with something hotter. Parasocial creators, who’ve built audiences through intimacy and connection, are the perfect fighters in the information war between Big Oil and the planet.”
