Quite often, when I read an announcement about a new “mainstream film” release featuring adult performers, what I’m truly reading is press release describing a porn flick that has been stripped of its more explicit content to create a safe-for-streaming-platforms version that is now being peddled as a “mainstream film.”
That doesn’t appear to be the case with <em>Dead Janitors Club</em>, the new release from <a href="https://www.ynot.com/tag/girls-and-corpses-magazine/">Girls and Corpses Films</a>, which offers “a wild true story of crime-scene cleanup, crooked deals, and dark comedy” – as well as pair of legit Hollywood…. Eh, the word “stars” might be a bit of a stretch, but it certainly does feature two Hollywood figures with names that will ring familiar to many viewers: Jake and Gary Busey.
Now available to rent on a variety of digital platforms, in addition to the father and son Busey team, Dead Janitors Club also features “memorable appearances” by Ginger Lynn Allen, Blake Blossom and Gizelle Blanco, according to the release announcement.
“Based on Jeff Klima's real-life crime scene cleanup memoir, the film follows an illicit side business in Los Angeles where every job could uncover more than its crew bargained for,” the announcement explained. “Klima adapted his book for the screen; Kenny Gage and Devon Downs directed. Robert Rhine, president of Girls and Corpses Films, produced the film, which is distributed by Blue Fox and Red Hound Entertainment.”
Ginger Lynn Allen plays Celeste, described as “a cigar-smoking Angel of Death.” Blake Blossom, meanwhile, “appears as a hostage in a tense action scene,” while Gizelle Blanco plays the seductive stepdaughter of “Dirk,” who is portrayed by Jake Busey. It’s not clear from the announcement what Gary Busey does in the film, aside from “appear” in it, but here’s hoping he takes a moment to reprise his iconic sandwich-ordering scene from <em>Point Break</em>.
“Why distinguish between adult and mainstream talent? If they are great on screen, I will always consider them,” said Robert Rhine, producer of Dead Janitors Club. “Jillian Janson was amazing in my film <em>Cynthia</em> (2018). I think more mainstream producers should cast talent from the adult pool. Ginger and I go way back. She's both a great friend and an amazing actress (such as in <em>The Devil's Rejects</em>). She has appeared in several of my films, such as <em>Pig Killer</em> and <em>Rob Zombie's 31</em>. And I'd be happy to cast Ginger, Blake and Gizelle for future projects."
Following theatrical screenings in Los Angeles and New York, Dead Janitors Club is now available through Amazon Prime, Apple TV, DirecTV, DISH Anywhere, Fandango at Home, Google Play, Hoopla, Plex, Verizon, and YouTube Movies, among other platforms. As noted by the release announcement, “availability may vary by provider and location.”
