In New AltErotic Showcase 'Inked Exxxpoitation', the Star Gets Candid About Her Past

LAS VEGAS/LOUISIANA—Pain is transformative. But does it always have to end badly? Maybe trauma can be the basis for something bigger and better.
Alt starlet Lorelai Leigh is fixin’ to find out. In her biographical hardcore showcase produced by AltErotic, Inked Exxxploitation of Lorelai Leigh, the 28-year-old tells a tale of trials and tribulations that begins deep in the southern bayous. “I’m from nobody, nowhere, no how,” she says in one scene, in her slight Southern drawl, flavored with a dash of spicy Cajun patois.
“We only have a couple of folk cultures left in our country. We have like the Appalachians and Appalachia. We have the Cajuns in Acadiana, where I live,” she described to AVN, “and we have Creoles also in South Louisiana. You also see it with the Amish and the Mennonites. Those are considered folk cultures.
“They have their own language, their own music, literature, culture, everything about it, you know. So, we're kinda isolated due to our geographical location with the bayou and the part of the country that we're in, away from everywhere else.
“I would say we're a very simple, just honest, hard-working culture down here,” Leigh said.
In the showcase, directed by AltErotic head of production and AVN Hall of Famer, Ivan, Leigh’s story is told through photos and videos from her past, combined with BTS footage of her first-ever trip to Las Vegas for her first AltErotic shoot. There are interviews, as well, in which Leigh recalls life experiences, including two cardiac arrests (caused by complications from medication) and episodes of domestic abuse.
Not exactly the usual glammed-up material that fans may imagine they want from a porn star showcase, yet strangely compelling in its authenticity. Having such an intimate glimpse into Leigh’s story may seem like too much—or may enhance her vulnerability, when accompanied with six hardcore scenes.
At AltErotic, the stars are literal “painted ladies,” like Leigh, with extreme tattoos and body modifications. She has numerous tattoos, piercings and modifications including a split tongue. Put to good use in each scene, and Leigh explains that she is able to move the tips independently, which she credits to learning Japanese not long after her tongue had healed.
In the movie, she talks about the substantial blackout tattoo around her neck and how it was motivated by her struggles with PTSD.
“I've survived two abusive relationships. My first one, I got out kind of young, when I was about 19 years old. I had like, maybe a tattoo I got when I was like 18 at the time.” she remembered. “But I really didn't start getting tattoos and modifications until later in life, like after.
“Because my first career, I was a barber, and then I was a firefighter, and then I went into the military. Then, you know, I became the performer I am today. So, I collected a couple tattoos along the years but, now that I'm a performer, I've really kind of grown into myself and who I am and that's when I really started getting a lot of the heavier like modifications for sure.”
In the final sex scene of Inked Exxxploitation, Leigh (aka Lorelei Suicide) gets a tattoo of the AltErotic logo from artist/performer Kurt Muscle, while Ivan videos the process. Body art becomes foreplay, as the pair finish the session with a charged-up boy/girl scene at the tattoo studio. There is an easy rapport between Leigh and director Ivan, who interviews her from behind the camera while shooting the scene.
“Meeting Ivan was probably the one of the best things that I've ever done,” she said. “Not just, obviously, for my career, but more so as a person. He doesn't just care about us as models he shoots. He cares about us as people, and as somebody that had never really had that, I feel like that helped me grow so much. My first conversation with Ivan was six months after I was homeless, after escaping domestic violence.
“He treats us all very well and he teaches, especially newer models that don't know—because especially new girls, I feel like are so it's so easy for people to take advantage of people that don't know. He takes the time and if anybody has any questions, he listens to us. He's like, ‘No, that's not normal, that's not OK,’ or whatever it is. He's that voice of reason that a lot of people don't have and, like, just having somebody like that in your corner just goes a long way,” she said.
Leigh adds that her story should not persuade women in similar circumstances to seek out or romanticize sex work. Performing on cam sites and dancing in clubs was the most immediate option for survival that, luckily, became a nonjudgemental space where Leigh has emerged as a performer.
Her intention is, she said, if one woman in a similar situation sees Inked Exxxploitation and is inspired by her story, then she’s accomplished her goal. She wants them to know that they can survive their circumstances, when they finally reach out for help.
“I had, like, a long talks with [Ivan] because, when I first started, I was still very much dealing with the aftermath of the situation. So, I was kind of just honestly venting to him about it. I was talking to him about everything that I've been through and how I would really like to do a documentary.
“Just 'cause, I see it so often, not just as a performer, but like, even as a dancer. I'm surrounded by strong, independent women who forget their worth. And as somebody that survived, that survived it, not just once but twice, I understand,” Leigh explained.
The alt star supports domestic violence charities and women’s shelters in the Las Vegas area. The “Cookout For a Cause” donation drive and cookout, being held on Thursday, October 15, is hosted by Leigh, and sponsored by AltErotic and PAYSITE, among others. The effort has already raised more than $1,000 for a Las Vegas area women’s shelter.
Despite being titled Inked Exxxploitation of Lorelai Leigh, to director Ivan’s credit, his approach to the material is simple and straightforward, and not a tawdry expose. The biographical pieces fit alongside the interview segments. The viewers see Leigh in retro video and pictures, before leaving the Bayou, before the industry. Later, when Leigh talks to the camera, she’s blossomed into someone new, leaving the painful parts of her past behind her.
The first hardcore scene in the showcase is a solo, in which she plays a lonely, Southern belle, passing the time in her boudoir, in all-black lingerie. In the background, a sleepy, romantic piano score adds retro-romantic aesthetic that’s lush and humid, like it is in the bayou.
